IED Programs

The district offers a variety of Indigenous programs that support cultural learning, relationship-building, and student engagement across schools. These opportunities are designed to honour Indigenous ways of knowing and being, while creating space for all learners to participate, learn, and grow in a good way.

Programs include Campus Cousins, which helps build peer connections and support networks for Indigenous students within schools. Drumming and Lahal provide hands-on cultural learning grounded in tradition, teaching rhythm, protocol, and the importance of community connection. Métis fiddling brings forward vibrant Métis musical traditions, sharing story and culture through music.

There are also Indigenous-focused professional development opportunities for staff, supporting ongoing learning, reflection, and the integration of Indigenous perspectives across classrooms and schools. In addition, Indigenous sports programs create opportunities for physical activity, teamwork, and cultural connection through play and competition.

Together, these programs help strengthen identity, belonging, and community while celebrating the diversity and richness of Indigenous cultures within the district.
